Climate Strike Montreal, Canada
Canada’s main climate strike took place in Montreal last Friday. Organizers estimate that half a million people were at the rally that filled the streets of downtown Montreal. Overall, more than 750 thousand people took part in Canada’s climate strike and 7.6 million joined the strike worldwide.
Sweden climate youth activist Greta Thunberg was in Montreal for the rally. So was Trudeau, who met with Greta before the march. (Spoiler: she told him he wasn’t doing enough and should listen and act on the science – the same message she gives to all leaders). Green Party Leader Elizabeth May was also at the Montreal rally, and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh went to the Victoria climate rally instead. Conservative Leader Scheer was conspicuously absent.
