How to achieve local implementation with tangible action.
Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations
17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been highlighted by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, this agenda presents a blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. These 17 SDGs are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership.
At their core, these goals recognize that the fight to eradicate global poverty and other features of deprivation must work synchronously with targeted strategies to positively influence health and education, reduce inequality and accelerate economic growth whilst tackling climate change and working to preserve global oceans and forests.
On Thursday 27th February 2020, Alternatives Media Inc. and Western University will be hosting a day of free workshops around the SDGs with a focus on specific goals that have a local implementation scale with tangible action. This event is facilitated by a team from Western University’s Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES) program.
